A little bit about me …

I am an artist practicing in various mediums from vintage photographic processes including wet plate collodion and alternative printing to ink, paint, and more recently sculpture.

Working from my rural studio in Highland Perthshire much of my work is inspired by people, the human form, and nature where I tend to follow whatever crooked path I find in front of me. I am currently exploring the Japanese concept of Wabi Sabi.

At this point I could prattle on about my background, my achievements and qualifications but the problem here is that will define me as a creative and not help you understand me as a person.

What matters to me is who I am and the work I am doing today, and more importantly how I relate to others.

Art is an extremely emotive and personal thing, if folk find something in my work that they either like or that resonates then great, if not thats also good, if we all liked the same things then wouldn’t the world be a pretty boring place ?

My simple belief in life.
We are all born to be creative, it’s what makes us grow, evolve and survive, it’s what makes us human,

The problem that I see is that for many being artistic in life is educated out of us at an early age, it happened to me as a youth taking me away from a creative career into a technical one. Thankfully later in life I have managed to ditch a corporate woking life and explore my creative instincts. I believe we all have creativity within us but for many its simply buried under the pressures and expectations of modern life.

Today I favour feeding the soul rather than the bank balance. (blog due for publication soon)
